Redwood now sponsoring Bristol VegfestUK 2012

We are thrilled to announce that Redwood have come on board as Show Sponsors for Bristol VegfestUK 2012.

We really feel that we're on a threshold of a new breakthrough in terms of the vegan lifestyle going mainstream and it's brilliant to have such a genuinely nice and ethical company such as Redwood right up front in the flagship position.

A huge thank you to the Redwood team (and the lovely Lee for chatting with us) for supporting us so wholeheartedly. We can't wait to see you in 2012!

Look out for Redwood at Bristol at the first stall you come to as you enter the main marquee. There you'll find yummy Redwood samples as well as plenty of their tasty and innovative vegan products to buy and take home. Then wander over to the catering village in Waterfront Square for a Redwood burger at lunchtime...

You can catch Redwood at Brighton VegfestUK too, on March 17th & 18th 2012.

Thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters so far - we couldn't have done it without your amazing support! We are thoroughly looking forward to walking into the new year with so many brilliant companies behind us.

A right Christmas clean up!

Have you, like myself, offered to host the whole family for Christmas this year? Is it only afterwards that you started to think "... when am I going to get chance to tidy the house?!"? Is it only after that that you started to think "I'm going to have to stock up on cleaning products, aren't I?".

WELL, never fear! Because through our cleaning time of need, bizzy bee are there to support us all the way.

bizzy bee take the bore out of chores with a beautiful range of gloves, cloths and scourers that brighten up any household. As well as being beautiful, bizzy bee products also perform like a dream, making the cleaning fly by (pun intended) in no time at all!

Some of my favourites include their scourer gloves (revolutionising the washing up forever - no more soaking the baking trays for hours on end!), their heavy duty gloves (perfect for heavier cleaning - think unblocking sinks and oven scrubbing) and their sparkly scourers (gentle but effective and very pretty indeed!).

But the best out of them all? Their spotty polka-dot cloths. Extra strong and absorbent, beautifully stylish and machine washable (therefore making them resuable - no more getting through 50 J-cloths a month!).

So now, your Christmas clean-up will be swift, easy and above all, fun.

We are very grateful and happy to have bizzy bee sponsoring our Brighton 2012 festival - not only are they producers of fab products, they are also wonderful and very generous people / bees indeed! Thank you, bizzy bee, for supporting our event in the new year.

To read lots more information on bizzy bee and see all the fabulous products they have to offer, visit their website at www.bizzybee.co.uk.
And to purchase their products just in time for the festive season, visit Wilkinson, Asda, Homebase, Ocado, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and some selected Waitrose stores.

A Redwood Christmas!

Christmas is drawing near and now comes the time that you'll start to plan your dinner for the big day...

Now, after being meat-free for 21 years, I'm used to tucking into a delicious veggie Christmas dinner every year but after so many years, I want to try something a little different. If you're wanting a change too and are stuck for new ideas of what to eat, you need to turn to Redwood Wholefoods...

Redwood specialise in producing delicious foods that are totally free from animal ingredients. They produce everything from vegan meat, fish and cheese products to desserts and natural oils. Their foods are also free from hydrogenated fats, eggs, GMOs, cholesterol, artificial colours and preservatives.

And when it comes to tasty options for Christmas, Redwood have got it spot on. They have a number of products available that will transform your Christmas dinner.
So how about some of their delectable Streaky-Style Vegetarian Rashers wrapped around their Meat Free Sage & Marjoram Sausages for perfect pigs in blankets?

And for the main event, try their succulent Turkey or Beef Style Roasts.

Or, if you want the whole package and none of the fiddly work, I'd recommend their gourmet Celebration Roast which includes rasher wrapped sausages, sliced turkey style roast and a turkey flavour gravy.

Redwood are the perfect solution, especially for recent vegetarian / vegan converts - their products are realistic, hearty, delicious and taste just like the real deal.

You can purchase their products at www.redwoodfoods.co.uk. You can also catch them at Brighton VegfestUK in March. Redwood have been coming to our festivals for a little while now and we can't wait to see them again!

Vegusto - the king of vegan cheese!

So, a little while ago the good people at Vegusto sent us a sample of their 'No Moo Cheese Sauce'.

If you haven't heard of Vegusto before, they're a Swiss company specialising in vegan meats and cheeses - and I'd heard nothing but positive things about their cheese - in particular that they're very similar to dairy cheese in both texture and taste.

So with some guests due to come round for dinner on Saturday night, I took the cheese sauce home to experiment and sample on my friends and family.

I chose to cook a vegan macaroni cheese. In this case it was also wheat free down to a personal wheat intolerance, so I used the fantastic Doves Farm Foods 'Organic Maize & Rice Pipe Rigate' rather than macaroni - although if anyone knows of someone who produces wheat free macaroni I'd be very keen to try it!

And this, is how it came out...

I am happy to announce that both myself and my guests were in agreement that the No Moo Cheese Sauce was very tasty indeed. It had a relatively strong flavour (similar to Parmesan) and was deliciously creamy. It even went crispy on the top which is something I haven't found with vegan cheeses in the past.
A couple of my dairy-eating family members said they could hardly taste the difference between ordinary dairy cheese sauce and this, which, as big cheese eaters, is a great compliment!
The "macaroni cheese" went perfectly alongside a crisp salad with homemade vinaigrette - I'd suggest you need something fresh and sharp to accompany the cheese sauce as it's quite rich.

So overall, the meal was a success. And another great thing? It even kept well overnight so I was able to eat the few leftovers for lunch the next day!

VegfestUK definitely gives Vegusto No Moo Cheese Sauce a big seal of approval!

Thank you, Vegusto, for giving us opportunity to try the sauce for ourselves.

You can purchase the sauce from the Vegusto website by clicking here.
Vegusto will also be appearing at both Bristol and Brighton VegfestUK in 2012.

Welcome to our new blog!

Hello everyone,

You'll know that we love to use Twitter and Facebook, but we've decided that sometimes that's just not enough to contain all of our thoughts, ideas, news, competitions, interests and massive enthusiasm and passion for what we do, who we work with and how things are coming along with our fab festivals!
SO, we've expanded into the exciting world of blogging. We've noticed the veggie / vegan community are pretty hot with blogging so hopefully we'll gain lots of new friends and be able to follow some interesting and inspiring blogs ourselves.

For anyone who doesn't know who we are - we're Europe's biggest vegan festival, taking place twice annually - once in Brighton (March 17th & 18th 2012) and once in Bristol (May 25th, 26th & 27th 2012).
Our Brighton festival is a little smaller and takes place in The Hove Centre. Our office is Bristol based so we love the opportunity to travel up to Brighton and soak up all of the lovely little cafes and shops as well as the beach and the very friendly people. Brighton is the vegetarian capital of the UK so we're in good company when we're there!

Our Bristol festival is a huge 3 day outdoor extravaganza, taking place at the Lloyd's Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square right in the centre of Bristol.
There is never a dull moment at either of our festivals - both being packed full of stalls, music, festival walkabout, cookery demos, campaigns, kids entertainment, competitions and the finest vegan food known to man.

And do you want to know the best thing? Both festivals are 100% free to the public. How good is that?! So now you're able to enjoy two amazing festivals for zero cost! And for that reason, if nothing else, we hope to see as many of you down there as possible! You'd be a fool to miss out... :)
